An original Sun motorcycle keyring which will have been produced in the 1950s .

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

This is an original Sun keyring dating from the late 1950s with a nickel plated badge with red vitreous enamel detail.

The badge is mounted onto an ostrich skin keyfob .

Ostrich skin was very occasionally used for small leather goods in the 1950s and we have seen examples of it having been used for keyrings before.

Ostrich skin is quite similar to pigskin leather which was used relatively commonly for keyfobs.

The keyring is in good condition for it’s age.

Viewed at life size with the naked eye the badge appears fine apart from one small area of nickel plating being missing.

The enlarged high resolution photos reveal what the naked eye does not see – many tiny pin-pricks in the plating with the underlying copper base metal showing through………..this keyring is already 60 years old and has had a life !

Unless you plan to use the keyring on an open motorcycle in all weathers the badge condition is unlikely to alter in the future and the condition of the ostrich skin keyfob is quite good – perfectly serviceable.

The keyring was made at the time by Sculthorp badgemakers of Blackfriars House London .

Very few of these keyrings will have been made as production of motorcycles by Sun Cycles & Fittings Ltd in Aston, Birminham ceased in the early 1960s.

The keyring is original & correct for use with any late Sun motorcycle.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive and this listing will cancel when the keyring has been sold.
