Sunbeam motorcycle - original vintage 1950s Sculthorp keyring in pigskin leather - collector's item

An original Sunbeam motorcycle keyring which will date from the 1950s.

The keyring is in good serviceable condition with a vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a genuine pigskin keyfob.

The badge is in mint condition and is marked on the back with the maker’s name – Sculthorp & Co. of London who specialised in making motorcycle keyrings in the 1950s & early 1960s. By the mid 1960s they had disappeared.

The leather keyfob is in genuine pigskin – a most upmarket material for the time – and is in excellent condition apart from at the top where the spliting passes through……….perfectly OK for now but not recommended for daily use as this is the point where the 60 year old leather will eventually yield.

Having said that – this is an important historical item and most unlikely to be bought for using daily !

We have only ever seen 2 or 3 examples of this particular keyring and the others had badly damaged badges and/or worn out leather keyfobs as a result of years of use on open motorcycles in all weathers.
