Triumph motorcycle - original vintage late 1950s/early 1960s manhattan products ? keyring

An original Triumph motorcycle keyring dating from the late 1950s or early 1960s.

This keyring is in excellent condition for it’s age and can have received very little use.

The badge is made of a light aluminium alloy with air dried enamel finish and is stamped ‘mP’ on the back.

We can only assume that ‘mP’  stands for ‘Manhattan Products’ which then became the famous Manhattan Windsor badgemaking concern in Birmingham in the 1960s.

The badge is mounted onto a genuine tan leather keyfob which is in new condition apart from a few surface marks which may have happened during storage.

The back of the leather keyfob has a horizontal split which was to allow ownership details to be stored on a card within the keyfob.

This idea soon went out of use once it was realised that this was not a very good idea for security reasons !
