Triumph TR3 & TR4 etc – original vintage ‘ Triumph World ‘ CUD torpedo keyring in road worn condition

£49.95

1 in stock

An original Triumph torpedo keyring which will have been produced in the 1960s .

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

A CUD torpedo keyring has to be the ultimate keyring to use with any 1960s Triumph motor car ………….although this example is in well worn condition .

We can only remember having ever listed just three other original examples of this Triumph World torpedo keyring over the years .

These keyrings are exceptionally rare – in any condition .

They were originally used in Triumph cars which were often open topped and daily drivers in all weather conditions and when the keyring became worn it was just discarded or lost .

Original Triumph World torpedo keyrings like this one are much rarer than original Jaguar torpedo keyrings which became so valuable & collectible that Bud Marston in USA has written a book entitled ‘Vintage Jaguar keyrings’ which is featured at the start of our Jaguar section here in this website shop.

This torpedo keyring was made by Castles Unit Developments Ltd of Castle Gate, Leicester ( CUD )

CUD were the only manufacturers of torpedo keyrings at the time and were famous from the late 1950s and right through the 1960s for the quality of their products which were exported worldwide.

At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s motor cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.

The convex Triumph World badge in vitreous enamel is one of the most intricate examples of vitreous enamelling which was ever fitted to a keyring .

The jewellery quality enamelling on this badge is in really excellent condition  – quite remarkable on a keyring of this age which has obviously had considerable use.

We found this keyring to be one of the most difficult keyrings to photograph with all the reflections from the bright nickel plating on that convex badge !

The badge is mounted onto a torpedo keyfob in genuine hide which is still in good serviceable condition but has been well worn in and polished with use to the degree that the embossed dealer information on the reverse of the keyfob is virtually illegible .

The splitring eyelet is still strongly mounted and there are plenty of miles in the keyring yet – in addition to the very many thousands of miles it will already have covered .

These keyrings were an absolute work of art and their quality has never been bettered .

This keyring will be original & correct for use with later 1955-1961 TR3 and 1961 -1967 TR4 – and also 1960s Herald, Vitesse, Spitfire  & 1300/ 2000 .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive – a few years ago a keyring in this condition would probably have been considered unsaleable .

How times change !

Collectors and owners are now actually looking for keyrings like this one that have had a life !
