You are most unlikely to ever have the opportunity to buy a more original 50-odd year old keyring for an early Triumph TR6 than this keyring which is possibly the most important original Triumph TR6 keyring which we have ever listed.
We have just this one example to offer which is new old stock having never been issued and is in superb condition.
The vitreous enamel on gilt badge has hand-laid vitreous enamel which really look it’s age and can never be confused with modern reproductions – this is a ‘time warp’ item which is just as these keyrings were made and used in these cars around 50 years ago.
There is a small firing flaw in the black vitreous enamel which can be seen in the photos. This was common with these early badges and has been there since the badge was made and will have no adverse affect on the durability of the badge.
The badge is mounted onto a genuine black leather keyfob gold embossed ‘TOP GRAIN LEATHER’.
The grade of leather used, keyfob shape and style of embossing are exactly as Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham used later on their extensive and famous ranges of automotive keyrings.
The later products had ‘Manhattan Windsor’ on the back of the badges – whereas this badge is un-marked.
This keyring came to us recently in a final batch from the original Manhattan Windsor premises in Birmingham together with later keyrings marked Manhattan Windsor as we would expect.
Manhattan Windsor are now sadly closed and almost certainly this will be one of Manhattan Windsor’s early keyrings probably before they had registered their name.
At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s cars and motorcycles were made in England – it was quite an industry.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
