Volkswagen Karmann Ghia - original vintage keychain - collector's item

An original Karmann Ghia keychain which we would think will have been produced in the late 1950s .

When this keychain has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This is the only example of an original Volkswagen Karmann Ghia keyring or keychain which we have ever seen and listed over the last 10 years .

This keychain is in really excellent condition with a vitreous enamel badge connected to a keyring clasp by means of chain links.

The clasp opens by means of a threaded nut to allow keys to be added as shown in the photos.

These keychains were the very first car keyrings which were ever produced – the earliest which we have ever seen can be dated to around 1955 .

They preceded keyrings with leather keyfobs which started to make an appearance in the very late 1950s.

Having never seen a leather keyring or a keychain before for Karmann Ghia it is difficult for us to be sure – but we would think that this keychain dates from the late 1950s.

It will be original & correct for use with 1955 onwards coupe and 1957 onwards convertible .

Volkswagen Karmann Ghia had chassis & mechanicals from Type 1 Beetle with styling by Italy’s Ghia & bodywork built by Karmann coachbuilders in Germany.
