The keyrings in this listing have original badges which are over 50 years old.

2 keyrings left.

We have just 3 of these keyrings to offer with original 50 year old Volkswagen Wolfsburg crest keyfob badges which we have remounted onto new keyfobs in genuine tan pigskin.

The vitreous enamel badges are all in excellent used condition ( no enamel chips or major scrapes etc ) and were made by the very well known Castles Unit Development Co. of Castle Gate. Leicester UK – their ‘CUD’ mark is on the back of each enamel badge.

Castles were the earliest & best manufacturers of keyrings in UK at that time and examples of their products and badges are keenly sought after .

Pigskin was ( and is ! ) a luxurious leather which was occasionally used for keyfobs in the 1960s – usually for prestige cars.

It was always expensive and was prized for it’s appearance and hard wearing durability which was ideal for keyfobs which receive a lot of handling.

Pigskin seems to be a thing of the past and no longer available in the grade needed for making keyfobs – the material which we use was sourced from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for covering hip flasks and making wallets – and keyfobs- quite some time ago.

Superb keyrings with a 1960s period correct vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a period correct keyfob shape which will look the part in any 1960s or early 1970s Volkswagen motor car and is small enough to be used as a ‘retro’ keyring in a much later car together with the remote.

When all 3 keyrings have been sold this listing will be cancelled. 59/94         12/20
