Volkswagen – original 1960s SCHALL keyfob badge ( with complete loss of enamel ) remounted onto a new leather keyfob

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Volkswagen keyfob badge by SCHALL which will have been produced in the 1960s which we have remounted onto a new keyfob in black saddlery hide as can be seen in the photos.

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

Please note that this badge is in bright nickel plating without any enamel !

Original Volkswagen keyrings by SCHALL are very scarce items which are much sought after – we can only ever remember listing just one example over the years.

During that time we have probably listed and sold just one other original badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob .

SCHALL ( SC HALL ) were English badgemakers in the 1960s and made some car and motorcycle keyrings .

Generally they didn’t enamel their badges with traditional vitreous enamel like most other manufacturers at the time – they used coach enamel which was hand applied.

In many cases over the years much ( or all in the case of this badge ) of the coach enamel has disappeared sometimes leaving a perfectly serviceable bright nickel plated badge like this Volkswagen one .

When there are just a few flakes of enamel missing these can be touched up by hand with enamel paint like Humbrol model enamel ( although we would always leave this to the customer )

In this case the badge could be re-enamelled by hand – but once again we would leave this to you .

Apart from the loss of enamel the badge is in good condition .

As can be seen in the enlarged high resolution photos there has been some wear to the high areas of the nickel plating with the underlying copper base metal showing through .

This wear can hardly be seen when the badge is viewed at lifesize ( unless you are  now looking for it ! )

We didn’t notice whilst remounting the badge – only noticing when we viewed the enlarged photos !

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive – with a very rare badge in perfectly serviceable condition now remounted and available at a very much lesser price than if the enamel was intact ! SMOSO  00/56    07/24
