Z-Guy Salmon Ltd- original early 1960s dealership pigskin keyring

NOW SOLD – Sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

This is the only example of an original 1960s Guy Salmon dealership keyring which we have ever seen over the last 10 years- this is an extremely rare item.

Guy Salmon are of course still very much still in business as a Jaguar Land Rover dealership.

In the 1960s they were important retailers of Austin Healey, Aston Martin, Bentley, Bristol & Porsche – to name just a few of the brands which they handled.

Here is an original advertisement from the Thames Ditton dealership dating from October 1962- they are even listing a 1600cc Porsche 356 !  00/59     02/20

This keyring is in good condition for it’s age – the badge is mounted onto a genuine tan pigskin keyfob which is very ‘upmarket’ for a dealership keyring- in fact we have never come across a dealership keyring in pigskin before !
Pigskin was ( and still is ) a most exclusive material usually reserved for keyrings for  special models of Aston Martins etc !
The keyfob stitching had seen better days so we have painstakingly picked the old stitching out and have re-stitched the keyfob using the original stitching holes & 50 year old Dorcas machine thread of the correct colour which we happened to have in the workshop – see the spool of thread in the listing pictures !
It is very rare that we would bother to go to so much trouble – but this keyring is such a scarce item and has resulted in a perfectly usable keyring with an excellent condition badge still  mounted onto the original pigskin keyfob showing the patination of 50 year’s use.
The keyring was originally made by Jacksons of Albion Street, Birmingham- this is a manufacturer whose name very rarely appears.
An important historical item and of particular interest to the owner of a motor car known to have originally been supplied by Guy Salmon in the 1960s.
The value and interest of such a car can be raised out of all proportion to the cost of the keyring by having an original dealer keyring dating from the time present with the car.
The keyring in the photos is then actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
