The keyring in this listing is original BMW keyring which we would think will have been produced in the late 1960s or very early 1970s .
This keyring is in new old stock condition – it does not appear to have been used and will be around 50 years old !
The vitreous enamel badge is mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather – an example of the high quality items which were produced at that time .
In the 1960s & 1970s almost all car keyrings were made in England – it was quite an industry .
The badge is marked ‘MADE IN BRITAIN’ on the back – how often do you see that statement nowadays ?
Whilst being new old stock the vitreous enamel badge has some slight staining in the white enamel in one of the quadrants – this can be seen in the enlarged high resolution photos .
In the 1960s & early 1970s the vitreous enamel was still in many cases individually hand laid and white enamel was particularly prone to picking up traces of other colours from other enamels whilst in the liquid state before being fired in the kiln .
The black leather keyfob is gold embossed ‘ TREND’ REAL LEATHER ‘ on the reverse .
We sometimes come across keyrings for other makes of car similarly marked ‘ TREND’ – but have never found out who they actually were .
All we know is that their keyrings were of a particularly high quality and that there may have been a connection with ALEXANDER who were a firm in England marketing top quality motoring accessories at that time .
This keyring is original & correct for use with any 1960s or early 1970s BMW motor car .
BMWs in those days were ‘driver’s cars ‘ and tended to receive a lot of use and it is rare for a keyring like this one to have remained in this unused condition .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
