Mercedes Benz – original vintage new old stock late 1970s keyring by Heath Machin in black leather – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original new old stock Mercedes Benz keyring which we would think will have been produced in the late 1970s .

We have just this one example of this keyring in this leather colour to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This is only the 3rd or 4th  original Heath Machin Mercedes Benz keyring which we have ever listed although we have seen similar keyrings made by them for other prestige marques like Porsche & Jaguar .

Heath Machin used a couple of distinctive keyfob shapes for their keyfobs – a flat topped shield shape and also this most attractive plump teardrop shape …………..halfway between a Melsom Products slimline teardrop and a full standard teardrop ( excluding the flat sided peardrop shape used later by others )

The keyring is in new old stock  condition with a vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather with contrasting stitching in white thread .

The badge is perforated with open sections which were milled out of the badge with the black keyfob leather showing through .

This perforated Mercedes Benz badge is usually associated with 1980s Mercedes Benz keyrings but we believe this keyring was actually produced in the late 1970s – so it will be a very early example of the perforated badge – apart from the few small badges produced in the 1960s by CUD which were also perforated .

The keyring was produced by Heath Machin of Walsall in England who as well as making their own car keyrings like this one , were producers of small leather goods and other keyrings and carried out leatherwork for other keyring manufacturers like Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham & Premier of London at the time.

In the 1960s & 1970s almost all keyrings for the world’s cars were made in England – it was quite an industry .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive and would be a superb keyring to use with any 1970s or early 1980s Mercedes Benz motor car .
