An original Royal Enfield keyfob badge which will have been produced in the late 1960s or early 1970s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos .
When this keyring with this badge has been sold this listing will be cancelled .
Original 50 year old Royal Enfield keyrings and keyfob badges are scarce items – almost all that were made will by now have been lost or thrown away when the leather wore out- this badge is a rare survivor .
These keyrings were used in anger on open motorcycles in all weathers at a time when the bikes were being used for daily transport rather than as cosseted classics as they are now !
This vitreous enamel badge has seen some action …………………the badge is basically sound and certainly in a serviceable condition but does bear witness to a previous life on the road .
Why is it that almost all original Royal Enfield keyfob badges which we have listed and sold over the years have some degree of damage – much more so than any other make of motorcycle ?
Close inspection reveals enamel chips in the vitreous enamel and also some wear to the nickel plating with the brass or copper base metal showing through .
The enlarged high resolution listing photos reveal all this probably in more detail than the naked eye at life size .
Nevertheless this is a rare badge and well worth conserving and mounting onto a new leather keyfob .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
