A rare original Royal Enfield keyfob badge which will have been produced in the 1960s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

We have just this one keyring with this badge – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

Original vitreous enamel Royal Enfield keyfob badges like this one are very scarce items – we have only ever listed 2 or 3 examples – for some inexplicable reason the others were all similarly damaged just like this one in exactly the same place .

Maybe that is why the badges are scarce ?

The enamel is chipped on the right hand side of the badge as can be seen in the photos.

So far as we can see – the damage appears to have been done.

Further loss of enamel should not happen provided the keyring is used carefully ( difficult on an open bike – but classic Royal Enfields tend to be used on fine Sunday afternoons now – like other classic bikes )

These badges were known as ‘drop badges’ – like a drop of liquid .

The depth of colour of the blue vitreous enamel is stronger than the enamel colour of  similar badges which were made later and these original badges had enamel which was laid slightly raised from the surface of the badge ( convex ) .

The later badges had flat enamel – as most badges do have.

Maybe it was due to the convex enamel that damage happened .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
