Mercedes Benz – original vintage 1970s/ 1980s ? dealership keyring

An original Mercedes Benz dealership keyring which we would think will have been issued in the 1970s – but could be 1980s ?

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

This is the only example of a Mercedes Benz keyring for this dealership which we have ever listed .

The keyring is in very good condition with a plated vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob in black faux leather .

The bright plating on the word ‘ MERCEDES ‘ on the badge has worn slightly to reveal the base metal beneath – this can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos .

The badge contains the Saint Christopher ( patron Saint of travellers ) motif in the centre – this is what makes us think that this keyring was issued in the 1970s as Saint Christopher keyrings were seldom if ever issued after the 1970s .

The keyfob is more a 1980s ‘peardrop’ shape in new condition  ………….so it may be that this dealership had a surfeit of badges produced in the 1970s and was still having those badges mounted onto keyfobs as they needed them into the 1980s .

This dealership was the first dealer and distribution centre for Mercedes Benz in the North of England – established in Bradford in 1953 .

During the early years only a small number of cars were imported and only ‘important’ customers known to the dealership were able to purchase a Mercedes Benz motor car !

This keyring would be of particular interest if placed with a car known to have passed through this dealership at the time .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .

We do not generally list original dealership keyrings for many makes of car – but there seems to be particular interest by owners of Mercedes Benz cars and we receive quite a few original Mercedes Benz dealership keyfob badges for remounting – which is not the case for other makes of car .
