Abarth – vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black pigskin leather

A vitreous enamel Abarth keyfob badge which will have been produced a few years ago probably for the classic car market which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob in black pigskin leather as can be seen in the photos .

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

The badge mounted onto this keyfob is NOT an original badge from the 1970s or 1980s .

This lovely jewellery quality vitreous enamel badge is in excellent condition .

Superb vitreous enamel badges like this one were still being produced in Birmingham until relatively recently  and were being produced in ‘ old school’ vitreous enamel which so far as we know is sadly no longer produced in England .

We have chosen to mount the badge onto a new keyfob in black pigskin leather – pigskin leather was used for keyfobs many years ago usually for prestige marques such as Jaguar & Aston Martin .

It was ( and still is ! ) a luxurious material and was prized for it’s appearance and durability .

The material which we use is vintage material itself and is probably 30 years old – it came from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for producing  keyrings , wallets & purses and also for covering hip flasks ………..remember those ?

New reproduction keyfob badges will now usually be produced in modern resin based enamel – not vitreous enamel like this one- and are most likely to have been produced overseas .
