AC – original 1960s vitreous enamel on gilt melsom badge inlaid into a new leather keyfob

An original vitreous enamel AC badge which will have been produced in the 196os inlaid into a new leather keyfob .

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

An original AC badge dating from the 1960s which we have inlaid into a new keyfob in full grain black leather as can be seen in the photos.

This is the only badge that we have – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

The badge was made in the 1960s by Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham – at that time almost all keyrings and badges for the world’s cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.

The gilt badge is in excellent condition with black vitreous enamelling and will have had a ‘whiff’ of lacquer applied when it was made to keep the gilt bright.

We have re-applied this and in use this will tend to wear away and the gilt finish will remain bright whilst the keyring is used- easily brightened after a period of not being used with a smear of any metal polish of course.

These original gilt badges mellow over the years to give a lovely golden glow – as this one has – this is something which cannot be artificially reproduced in a new badge .

The splitring has been specially selected to match the badge – it is in an aged bronze finish .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
