restored and original vintage leather keyrings
for classic cars and motorcycles

Albion - original vintage 1960s 'Sure as The Sunrise' keyring - collector's item

Sorry – both of these keyrings have now been sold to a couple of customers who will treasure them – but have been left on view as examples of original Albion keyrings.

Original Albion keyrings which will have been produced in the 1960s.

When both keyrings have been sold this listing will be cancelled.

We have just 2 of these keyrings to offer which are original old stock items both in mint condition.
What superb little things these are – and they are around 50 years old !
Albion’s motto was ‘Sure as the Sunrise’ as seen on the vitreous enamel badges.
The vitreous enamel badges are mounted onto genuine tan leather keyfobs and are as British as roast beef – these keyrings would look great used on any set of car keys whatever the make of car or truck.
Albion Motor Co. originally operated from Finnieston Street in Glasgow Scotland and became part of British Leyland in 1951 producing the famous Chieftain, Clydesdale and Reiver trucks and the Albion name was finally discontinued by British Leyland in 1972.
The Reiver was a 6 wheeler truck and has been immortalised by Mark Knopfler ( originally of Dire Straits fame ) in his 2009 song :-
Knopfler was from Newcastle and the Reiver was close to his heart and roots as the original term ‘Border Reiver’ related to Scottish clansmen whose chief activity was cattle rustling and other misdemeanors who operated on both sides of the Scottish/English border to avoid being arrested by forces from either country.
The Armstrong & Fenwick clansmen were the worst offenders .
Southern bound from Glasgow town, she’s shining in the sun
My Scotstoun lassie, on the border run
We’re whistling down the hillsides and tearing up the climbs
I’m just a thiever, stealing time
In the Border Reiver.
Three hundred thousand on the clock and plenty more to go
Crash, box and lever, she needs the heal and toe
She’s not to cold in winter but she cooks me in the heat
I’m a six foot driver but you can adjust the seat
In the Border Reiver
Sure as the sunrise, that’s what they say about the Albion
Sure as the sunrise, that’s what they say about the Albion
She’s an Albion, she’s an Albion
The ministry don’t worry me my paperwork’s alright
They can’t touch me, I got my sleep last night
Its knocking out a living wage in nineteen sixty nine
I’m just a thiever, stealing time
In the Border reiver.
Sure as the sunrise, that’s what they say about the Albion
Sure as the sunrise, that’s what they say about the Albion
She’s an Albion, she’s an Albion  59/92   09/20
An Albion Reiver Truck in all her splendour.
