Aston Martin – original 1980s/ 1990s green border badge remounted onto a new keyfob in black oak bark tanned leather

An original Aston Martin keyfob badge which will have been produced in the 1980s or 1990s which we have remounted onto a new keyfob in black oak bark tanned leather as can be seen in the photos .

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

The front of this nickel plated vitreous enamel  badge is in excellent condition ( the important bit ! ) with a border of green vitreous enamel and we have remounted it onto a new leather keyfob in black oak bark tanned leather .

Please note that the reverse of the badge does have some wear although this can only be seen when the badge is flipped up off the keyfob of course – this can be readily seen in the enlarged high resolution photos .

This wear will probably have taken place whilst the badge cut-outs were being milled out ( see below )

Although not now marked as such the badge will have been produced by Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham who made the Aston Martin keyrings at that time .

The top and bottom cut-outs in the badge have been milled from a solid badge which would originally have had ‘ MANHATTAN WINDSOR – MADE IN ENGLAND ‘ marked on the reverse.

All of this information has been removed during the milling process .

This milling took place prior to the badge being nickel plated and the vitreous enamel was then applied.

Many Mercedes Benz keyfob badges with similar cut-outs were produced just the same in the 1980s – the badges were cast from a die and this milling process saved the manufacturer the expense of having a separate die produced for badge with cut-outs !
