1 in stock
An original Atkinson keyring which we would think will have been produced in the 1960s or possibly 1970s .
We have just this one keyring to offer – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
This is the only original Atkinson keyring which we have ever listed or even seen over the years .
Apart from this keyring all we have ever seen is just one damaged original Atkinson keyfob badge which is currently listed here in the shop ( unless now sold )
Atkinson keyrings and keyfob badges must one of the rarest keyrings of all .
Maybe very few were made – or maybe they were all worn out with constant use in heavy goods vehicles – probably a combination of the 2 factors .
This keyring is in very good condition and was produced by the very well respected badgemakers Fattorini of Barr Street in Birmingham .
The nickel plated badge ( some of the nickel plating has worn as can be seen in the enlarged high resolution photos ) has black vitreous enamel detail between the grille sections of the radiator design badge with the characteristic ‘A’ for Atkinson within a circle .
The badge is mounted onto a keyfob in genuine tan pigskin leather – a very up-market material which was generally only used for keyfobs for prestige cars such as Aston Martin & Jaguar !
Atkinsons Vehicles of Walton Le Dale used the distinctive circled ‘A’ logo on the radiator.
In 1969 ERF and Foden started a bidding war to buy Atkinson but Seddon of Oldham eventually bought Atkinson to form Seddon Atkinson .
An offer from International Harvester for Seddon-Atkinson was then accepted in 1974.
The brand was then bought by Iveco 1990 and the Oldham plant was closed down in 2004 and production was moved to Spain.
