BMW Motorcycle – original vintage 1960s keyring by SCHALL with navy blue leather keyfob – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

We are not licensed by BMW or any of their representatives to reproduce any of the registered BMW designs.

The keyring in this listing is an original keyring which will have been produced around 50 years ago .

We have just this one keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

This keyring is in excellent condition and is a very rare item .

We do have a couple of keyrings with original BMW SCHALL badges remounted onto new leather keyfobs currently listed here in the shop ( unless now sold )

These 2 keyrings have original badges which have been remounted onto new leather keyfobs – but these of course are not completely original keyrings still with the original leather keyfob like the one in this listing .

The nickel plated badge mounted onto this keyring has been enamelled in coach enamel ( not the usual vitreous enamel more common at the time )

This coach enamel will have been individually hand applied and there is a small area of white enamel missing together with several specks of black enamel which can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos .

These could very easily be ‘touched up’ with an enamel paint such as Humbrol model paint – but we will leave that to you .

The badge is mounted onto a keyfob in genuine Navy blue leather .

In the 1960s almost all keyrings for the world’s cars & motorcycles were made in England – it was quite an industry .

In the 1960s very few manufacturers seem to have been be bothered to produce keyrings for motorcycles ( particularly BMW bikes which were rare on British roads at the time )

Only SCHALL & AE Wassell produced motorcycle keyrings in any quantity at the time .

This particular keyring was made in England by SCHALL ( SC HALL ) who probably didn’t make many of these keyrings for BMW bikes at the time .

In that case it could probably have not been worthwhile setting up to produce a run of vitreous enamel badges and the badges were simply enamelled by hand instead .

Interestingly another British keyring manufacturer ( AE Wassell of Birmingham who specialised in producing motorcycle keyrings ) did produce some BMW motorcycle keyrings at the same time with the same badge design but enamelled in vitreous enamel – we have only ever seen one example of one of those keyrings .

The BMW SCHALL keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive . SMOSO  00/59    07/24
