BMW – original late 1960s/ early 1970s vitreous enamel badge remounted onto a keyfob in black pigskin leather

The keyring in this listing has an original  BMW keyfob badge which will have been produced around 50 years ago which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob .

An original BMW keyfob badge which will have been produced in the late 1960s or early 1970s which we have remounted onto a new keyfob in genuine black pigskin leather as can be seen in the photos .

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

This vitreous enamel badge came to us mounted onto it’s original leather keyfob but sadly the keyfob was in a very poor shape so we had no option but to remount the badge onto a new keyfob .

This 50 year old badge is in excellent condition and is marked  ‘ BRITISH MADE ‘ on the reverse – not a statement often heard these days …………….

In the 1960s and 1970s most keyrings and keyfob badges for the world’s cars were produced in England – it was quite an industry .

We have remounted the badge onto a new keyfob in genuine black pigskin leather which was a material sometimes used for keyrings at the time – mainly for prestige cars such as Jaguar and Aston Martin – and was prized for it’s durability and appearance .

The pigskin leather which we have used is vintage material itself being around 40 years old and having come to us from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for producing wallets & purses and also covering hip flasks ……….remember those ?

It is ideal for producing keyfobs as it is a very stiff material and allows us to produce a keyfob which is slimmer in thickness than most keyfobs which we produce .

Sadly it is a finite resource and we don’t have enough of it to allow us to use it for every keyfob badge that we remount – just the ones that warrant it like this excellent badge which will be original & correct for use with any 1960s or 1970s BMW but will also be suitable for using as a retro keyring in a much later car as the BMW badge design has changed very little over the years .
