The keyring in this listing has a vitreous enamel BMW keyfob badge which we would think will have been produced around 15 years ago which we have remounted onto a new keyfob in full grain black leather as can be seen in the photos .

We are offering just this one keyring with this actual badge – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

The badge mounted onto this keyfob is NOT an original badge from the 1970s or 1980s .

This vitreous enamel badge is in brand new condition and will never have been used and we have remounted it onto a new keyfob in black pigskin leather .

Keyfobs mainly for prestige cars such as BMW, Jaguar etc were sometimes produced using pigskin leather which was ( and is ! ) a luxury material prized for it’s appearance and durability – an ideal leather for making keyfobs from as keyfobs receive a lot of handling .

Pigskin leather in the stiff grade needed for keyfobs seems to be rarely available these days .

The leather which we use is vintage material itself and at least 30 years old  – we sourced it from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for making wallets, keyfobs and covering hip flasks ( remember those ? )

The badge has been produced in ‘ old school’ vitreous enamel rather than the modern resin based hard enamel now in general use for keyfob badge production overseas

The BMW typeface used on this badge is the same typeface which was sometimes used on keyrings issued by BMW dealerships with new cars in the 1980s .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
