Original Vintage & Restored Leather Keyrings for Classic Cars & Motorcycles

British Leyland - original 1970s melsom 'Capital L' badge mounted onto a new leather keyfob ( imperfect enamel )

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original British Leyland keyfob badge which will have been produced  in the 1970s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

Just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

Please note that whilst this badge is probably new old stock it has imperfect enamel as can be seen in the photos – flaws like this were common at the time .

The enamel at the base of the badge does not have the same depth of colour as the blue enamel on the rest of the badge – slightly translucent – and there is a ‘fish eye’ depression in the enamel at 4 0’clock on the face of the badge – this all sounds horrific and took a lot of describing ( ! ) but will not affect the durability of the badge in the slightest .

All part of the charm of original 40 year old vitreous enamel badges !

The badge mounted onto this keyfob is an original British Leyland keyfob badge dating from the 1970s and we have remounted it onto a new keyfob in black saddlery hide .

The badge was made by Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham who were one of the main UK manufacturers of automotive keyrings .

At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s cars were made in Birmingham – it was quite an industry.

We have become very well known worldwide for remounting original keyfob badges onto new leather keyfobs of the correct pattern so that the vintage badges can continue to be used on keyrings well into this 21st Century.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive. SMOSO  59/22   05/23
