Bugatti – original vintage 1960s Craftsman torpedo keyring ( re-stitched ) – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Bugatti torpedo keyring which will have been produced in the 1960s .

We have just this one example of this very rare 50 year old Bugatti torpedo keyring made by Craftsman to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This is one of just 3 examples of an original Bugatti torpedo keyring which we have ever listed over the years ( one of those in age-worn condition is currently listed unless now sold )

This keyring is in very good condition although the stitching had come loose – so we have painstakingly picked out all the old stitching and re-stitched it with linen thread by hand.

Had we not revealed this it is very unlikely that you would have known as the new stitching uses the original stitching holes – this could never be achieved by using a stitching machine .

The keyring was made by Castles Unit Developments Ltd of Castle Gate, Leicester – their CUD name was changed to Craftsman in the late 1960s and the badges were stamped accordingly – and an American connection has been rumoured but never substantiated.

The fact that the back of the badge on this keyring is marked ‘Craftsman’ indicates that this particular keyring was produced in the late 1960s.

CUD were famous in the late 1950s and right through to the late 1960s for the quality of their products which were exported worldwide.

At that time keyrings for the world’s motor cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.

The vitreous enamel badge is mounted onto a torpedo keyfob in genuine hide embossed ‘REAL MOROCCO – Made in England’.

Morocco leather was a term for goatskin – and the pebbly grain of the leather shows that this torpedo keyfob is in genuine goatskin.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive . SMOSO  00/523   11/23
