1 in stock

Original new old stock Buick torpedo keyrings which will have been produced in the 1960s.

When both keyrings have been sold this listing will be cancelled – just one keyring left .

We have just 2 examples of this superb keyring to offer .

These are original Buick torpedo keyrings dating from the 1960s.

The keyrings are new old stock – so are in mint condition.

The vitreous enamel badges are mounted onto genuine leather torpedo keyfobs gold embossed ‘ Real Morocco Made in England’

Morocco was a term used for goatskin – and the fine pebbly appearance of the leather suggests that this is indeed goatskin.

Torpedo keyrings were made by Castles Unit Developments of Castle Gate Leicester UK in the early 1960s. They were the only manufacturer making torpedos.

It is believed that Castles then changed their name very briefly to ‘Craftsman’ before ceasing production altogether. We do very occasionally come across torpedo keyrings marked ‘Craftsman’.

An American connection has also been rumoured but so far has not substantiated.

These torpedo keyrings have ‘Signa Crest’ cast into the back of the badges – which raises even more questions than those already not answered !

Maybe Signa Crest is the American connection – and these keyrings could have been made in USA ?

Morocco leather is more an American term than a British one – even though the keyfob is gold embossed ‘Made In England’.

We have asked a friend in USA to check-up on Signa Crest.

That friend is Bud Marston who has written a book about Jaguar keyrings and knows far more than we do about torpedo keyrings.

Bud reports that the keyring just could have been made by Signa -Craft in Fifth Avenue, New York in the early 1960s.

Maybe we shall never know the truth – but meanwhile here are superb keyrings with a secret !

The keyrings are original & correct for any 1960s or early 1970s Buick motor car .
