Just this one keyring with this original 1960s Chevrolet Caprice badge which we are offering mounted onto one of our classic rectangular keyfobs in black leather as can be seen in the photos.

The vitreous enamel badge is an original vintage item dating from the 1960s and is in mint condition.

The badge was made at the time by a firm known as ‘Craftsman’ who were originally Castles Unit Developments of Church Gate, Leicester England.

In the early 1960s almost all automotive keyrings and keyfob badges for the world’s cars were produced in England – it was quite an industry.

No records survive – but it is thought that Castles ( the famous CUD keyring Co. ) later became Craftsman and an American connection is rumoured but so far not substantiated.

It may be that these Craftsman badges were actually produced in Brooklyn USA- particularly those for American cars like this Caprice one.

These badges were originally supplied mounted onto torpedo keyfobs ( the torpedo keyfob was Castle’s signature keyfob shape – and likely the reason for their swift demise )

The torpedo keyfob did not hang well from the ignition key when in use in most cars.

The splitring was at ninety degrees to the keyfob itself which meant that the keyfob and badge did not lay flat in use like conventional keyfobs as we know them today.

So – here is an original 1960s badge now mounted onto a new leather keyfob which will hang correctly in use.

This badge is original & correct for 1965 onwards Chevrolet Caprice.
