Cobra - original vintage 1960s vitreous enamel badge ( with chipped enamel ) remounted onto a new leather keyfob

An original Cobra keyfob badge ( with chipped enamel ) which will have been produced in the 1960s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

An original Cobra keyfob badge in very good condition apart from having an enamel chip at 4 o’clock on the edge of the face of the badge which we have gone to some pains to show in the listing photos.

A very rare badge ( we have only seen just one other like this one over the last 10 years )

The vitreous enamel badge is enamelled in solid black enamel + translucent red, white & blue enamel and we have remounted it onto a new keyfob in full grain black leather as can be seen in the listing photos.

A nickel plated Cobra in 3D relief takes centre stage in the centre of the badge  .

On the reverse of the badge is a small statement reading ‘JAPAN’ .

We are all now used to almost everything we buy having been made in the Far East – but this keyring was produced long before that trend developed.

In the 1960s Japanese Manufacturing Industry was still in a state of recovery after the war and many small high quality items like this one were produced.

At the same time that manufacturing capability was gearing up for far greater things and soon came to dominate motor cycle production and other avenues.

This and the other similar Cobra badge which we have seen are the only automotive keyring badges  which we have ever seen with ‘JAPAN’  on the badge reverse – we doubt if many keyrings were produced in Japan .
