Facel Vega – original vintage new old stock late 1950s/ early 1960s CUD torpedo keyring – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered but has been left on view as it is the only complete original Facel Vega keyring which we have ever listed .

An original new old stock Facel Vega CUD torpedo keyring which will have been produced in the late 1950s or early 1960s .

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer  – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This keyring is in new old stock condition and will probably never have been used.

The vitreous enamel badge is in jewellery quality vitreous enamel – it is of the very highest quality .

The badge is mounted onto a torpedo keyfob in genuine hide – the pebbly grain suggesting that the hide is goatskin .

Prestige marques such as Facel Vega were often issued with a couple of keyrings .

One of these was actually used with the ignition keys whilst the other one often finished up unused in the glove box or left in a drawer at home.

This keyring is probably that ‘ other one ‘ .

In all the years that we have traded we have only ever listed and sold one other Facel Vega keyring and it was not completely original .

That was in 2019 and it was just a loose badge from a keyring which we remounted onto a new leather keyfob .

This torpedo keyring was made by – Castles Unit Developments Ltd of Castle Gate, Leicester ( CUD ) and will have been made in the late 1950s or early 1960s .

CUD were the only manufacturers of torpedo keyrings and were famous in the late 1950s and right through the 1960s for the quality of their products which were exported worldwide.

At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s motor cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.
