Ferrari – original vintage 1970s? leather keyring in used condition – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Ferrari keyring which we would think will have been produced in the 1970s .

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

Over the years we have listed and sold just one other example of this Ferrari keyring – and that was quite a few years ago .

This keyring has a nickel plated Ferrari prancing horse and the FERRARI logo mounted onto a keyfob in dark tan leather .

The leather would have originally been in a lighter shade of tan leather but this has darkened with age and use to give the lovely dark tan polished patina which we have attempted to show in the photos .

This keyring is in used condition in that the leather has darkened and become polished with use over the years – it is still in perfectly serviceable condition .

The nickel plating is in excellent condition .

In many cases Ferrari bonded their leather keyfobs rather than stitching them – as is the case here .

Quite a small keyring – the leather portion measures just 2.35″ ( 60mm ) in height by 1.2″  ( 30mm ) in width .

The carefully used condition that this keyring is in is actually how we like to receive vintage keyrings .

This keyring has been used as intended and will have covered many thousands of miles in a Ferrari motor car – just imagine the scene ………….if only keyrings could talk !

Ferrari’s prancing horse was originally a symbol of Count Francesco Baracca who was a legendary Italian air force ace during World War I – he painted a black prancing horse on the side of each plane which he flew .

After over 30 victorious airborne duels he was sadly shot down and killed on June 19th 1918 – just a few months before the war ended .

In 1923 Enzo Ferrari met Count Enrico Baracca and Countess Paolina Baracca in person after winning a race at the Savio circuit in Ravenna.

The Countess suggested Enzo should brand his vehicles with the prancing horse for good luck and Enzo took up her suggestion .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive . SMOSO  00/572    09/24
