Honda motorcycle – resin based black enamel badge mounted onto a new leather keyfob

NOW SOLD – sorry these keyrings have both been sold and can no longer be ordered

Two Honda keyfob badges in brand new condition which will have been produced relatively recently ( probably overseas ) for the classic bike market which we have mounted onto new leather keyfobs as can be seen in the photos .

These are NOT original vintage badges – they will have been produced relatively recently .

These badges have been produced in modern resin based enamel – not ‘old school ‘ vitreous enamel .

We have just these two keyrings with these badges to offer  – when both have been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This listing is for just one keyring .

Superb quality ‘old school’ vitreous enamel badges were produced in Birmingham  with ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked on the reverse of the badges up until quite recently .

Almost all keyrings and keyfob badges for cars & bikes had been produced in England since the late 1950s – it had been quite an industry .

As with everything else – production of car & motorcycle keyrings then moved overseas with most badges then being produced in modern resin based enamel like these badges .

The enamel in these badges is resin based and the badges are no longer marked ‘ MADE IN ENGLAND ‘ on the reverse as they are no longer made in England .

The enamel is laid below the level of the plated metal badge detail – you can feel the detail on the badge with your fingers with the enamel being at a slightly lower level.

Apart from tradition and our regret that resin based enamel badges cannot be compared with the beauty of old school jewellery quality vitreous enamel badges :- these new badges do have a big advantage over traditional vitreous enamel badges …………….they do not crack or chip when dropped onto a hard surface .

We have remounted both badges onto new leather keyfobs in black saddlery hide – so at least some sense of tradition has been maintained !

Whilst we are obviously traditionalists at heart we have to accept ‘progress ‘ and will need to embrace modern materials to a certain extent if we are to continue offering car & motorcycle keyrings for sale .

Original vitreous enamel badges are now a finite resource – apparently no more are being produced in England and if we restrict ourselves to dealing only with vitreous enamel badges then we draw a line which we will be unable to cross .

The keyrings in the photos are the actual ones which you will receive – this listing is for just one of the keyrings . SMOSO  59/92    06/24
