An original Jaguar keyfob badge which will have been produced in the late 1950s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos .
We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .
This vitreous enamel badge is in good condition for it’s age and we have remounted it onto a new keyfob in full grain black leather .
The translucent red and solid black enamel are intact apart from a small area of black enamel at the base of the badge on the left hand side .
There is some wear to the nickel plating as can be expected after all this time .
The vitreous enamel badge is bonded to the nickel plated shield baseplate by an unknown and tenacious adhesive which is still doing it’s work after well over 60 years .
We have seen similar shield badges for other makes of car over the years and have never seen one case where whatever adhesive it is that was used has failed .
In this world of epoxy everything it maybe that our forebears also knew a thing or two about adhesives.
Interestingly Bud Marston has picked up on this very point in his description of this same badge in his ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ book .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
