Home / Online Shop / Jaguar – original vintage 1960s Coombs of Guildford keyring by Caxton of Kew – collector’s item
NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
An original Coombs & Sons Ltd. of Guildford keyring which will have been produced in the 1960s .
We have just this one keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .
We are told that one of these keyrings was recently sold on an internet auction site although with a different leather keyfob design .
Additionally on that auction site there have been several reproductions of Coombs keyrings offered recently as reproductions by an individual who had always wanted a Coombs keyring but had found that originals were rare and expensive so had some reproductions made .
Over the years we have listed and sold 3 or 4 of these original keyrings but not all were in the superb condition that this keyring is in .
The keyring in this listing is a completely original item with the badge still mounted onto the original leather keyfob and is in really excellent condition as can be seen from the photos .
Initially we though that it was new old stock but there are the slightest marks on the leather where the badge has lain so it has been used sparingly .
The vitreous enamel badge in translucent red & green enamel is mounted onto a keyfob in dark charcoal grey genuine leather with contrasting natural coloured stitching .
The keyring was made by the very well known London badgemaker – Caxton of Kew in Surrey England.
The Coombs of Guildford Jaguar dealership is remembered so well by Jaguar enthusiasts that it hardly needs description here .
Coombs were known not only for their highly successful dealership selling Jaguar & Daimler cars but also for the modifications which they carried out to Jaguar MkI & MkII saloons .
John Coombs was also a successful racing driver and encouraged Jaguar chairman Sir William Lyons to further develop the E-type for racing .
Bud Marston shows examples of original Coombs dealership keyrings in his ‘ Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ book featured here in the Jaguar section of our website shop .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive . SMOSOÂ 00/543Â Â 04/25
