Jaguar – original vintage 1970s decal insert keyring – collector’s item

An original vintage Jaguar keyring which will have been produced in the 1970s.

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

These keyrings are rare items because they were ‘budget’ keyrings and were soon discarded when they became worn out or when the owner changed their car .

Very few have survived after over 40 years.

The example in this listing is in excellent condition apart from having a small hole punched through the keyfob beneath the badge.

We do occasionally see keyrings for other makes of car like this – and can only assume that they have been pinned to a board as part of a collection at some stage or that when the owner sold the car which they were used with the keyring was pinned up in the garage as a ‘memento’ .

The keyring has a decal insert badge bonded onto an aluminium mount which is in turn mounted onto a keyfob in imitation black leather.

Bud Marston’s ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ book featured at the beginning of our Jaguar section in this website does include an example of this very keyring.

During the 1970s there was still a considerable market for high quality keyrings for using with Jaguar cars .

At the same time there was a market for a cheaper keyring like this one probably for use with everyday driver cars – of which there were plenty before Jaguars became the classics which they are today .

An interesting item for placing in a collection of keyrings – which should also include keyrings like this one as well as the ‘holy grail’ 1960s CUD Jaguar torpedo keyrings which are so sought after by collectors………………..incidentally this keyring in this condition is rarer than a torpedo keyring !
