Jaguar - original vintage 1970s vinyl inlay badge keyring made in Canada

An original Jaguar keyring which we would think will have been produced in the 1970s.

Just this one keyring to offer -when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

A very rare keyring – this is the only example which we have ever listed .

We can hardly ever remember listing a Jaguar keyring which hadn’t made it into Bud Marston’s famous ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings ‘ book !

This one had eluded Bud…………………..so it must be rare !!

Keyrings like this one were produced as ‘budget’ keyrings and were considered as of little value at the time .

Consequently almost all of them have by now been discarded when they wore out or when the car which they were used with was sold .

This keyring is in excellent condition with a vinyl inlay badge mounted onto a keyfob in black faux leather .

The back of the keyfob is very faintly embossed ( can hardly be seen )  ‘GENUINE LEATHER’ – but the keyfob is not made of genuine leather !

This happened all the time back in the 1970s but would probably not get through the trades description net nowadays .

The back of the badge and also the back of the keyfob is marked ‘MADE IN CANADA ‘

This can be seen plainly stamped on the back of the badge but can hardly be seen embossed into the back of the keyfob .

We have seen and listed other similar keyrings for other makes of car also marked ‘MADE IN CANADA’ – obviously some automotive keyrings were made in Canada at the time although almost all keyrings for cars were made in England in the 1970s .

We understand that these keyrings were imported and distributed by Karobes Ltd of Leamington Spa – Karobes were a leading supplier of motor accessories from the 1950s until the 1970s .

Whilst keyrings like this one were not produced to the same standards as many Jaguar keyrings they are in fact rarer for the reasons stated and the very few which do appear in good condition are very worthy of taking their place in a collection of Jaguar keyrings as important examples of original Jaguar keyrings.
