Jaguar – original vintage new old stock 1970s ‘winking Jaguar’ keyring – collector’s item

An original new old stock Jaguar keyring which will have been produced in the 1970s .

We have just this one keyring to offer – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This is only the 2nd complete example of one of these keyrings which we have ever listed over the years .

This keyring is in new old stock condition and will never have been used despite it being around 50 years old .

The vitreous enamel badge is mounted onto a keyfob in black faux leather – the badge and keyfob look so bright and fresh that they could have been made yesterday – quite remarkable .

This original keyring is not to be confused with later reproductions with a badge in acrylic resin rather than the vitreous enamel which the badge on this keyring has been produced in .

The later reproductions have a smooth polished back whereas the badge on this keyring has a stippled design on the reverse and is marked  ‘ MADE IN ENGLAND’ .

Examples of this keyring are shown & described in Bud Marston’s Vintage Jaguar keyrings book which is featured at the beginning of our Jaguar section in this website shop.

Bud dates the keyrings to the 1970s and states that the growler is exhibiting a distinctive left-cheek snarl – here in the UK the badge has been dubbed ‘The Winking Jaguar ‘ .

Bud carries in to say that badges with this ‘anomaly’ carry no maker’s mark – as is the case with the badge on this keyring which is simply marked ‘ MADE IN ENGLAND ’ .
