Original Vintage & Restored Leather Keyrings for Classic Cars & Motorcycles

Lambretta – twenty first century resin based enamel badge mounted onto a new leather keyfob

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

A Lambretta keyfob badge in brand new condition which will have been produced recently for the classic scooter market which we have mounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos .

This is NOT an original vintage badge – it will have been produced relatively recently .

This badge has been produced in modern resin based enamel – not ‘old school ‘ vitreous enamel .

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer  – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

Superb quality ‘old school’ vitreous enamel badges were produced in Birmingham  with ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked on the reverse of the badges up until quite recently .

Almost all keyrings and keyfob badges for cars & bikes had been produced in England since the late 1950s – it had been quite an industry .

As with everything else – production of car & motorcycle keyrings then moved overseas with most badges then being produced in ‘ hard enamel ‘ like this badge .

The enamel in this badge is resin based hard enamel and the badges are no longer marked ‘ MADE IN ENGLAND ‘ on the reverse as they are no longer made in England .

‘ Hard enamel ‘ is laid flush with the level of the plated detail – the surface of the badge is completely smooth and feels smooth to the fingers like the ‘old school ‘ vitreous enamel .

Apart from tradition and our regret that resin based enamel badges cannot be compared with the beauty of old school jewellery quality vitreous enamel badges :- these new badges do have a big advantage over traditional vitreous enamel badges …………….they do not crack or chip when dropped onto a hard surface .

We have remounted this badge onto a new leather keyfob in black saddlery hide – so at least some sense of tradition has been maintained !

Whilst we are obviously traditionalists at heart we have to accept ‘progress ‘ and will need to embrace modern materials to a certain extent if we are to continue offering car & motorcycle keyrings for sale .

Original vitreous enamel badges are now a finite resource – apparently no more are being produced and if we restrict ourselves to dealing only with vitreous enamel badges then we draw a line which we will be unable to cross .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive . SMOSO  59/42    06/24
