Land Rover - original 1960s? key pouch - collector's item

An original Land Rover leather key pouch which we would think will have been produced in the 1960s .

We have just this one key pouch to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This is the only Land Rover key pouch which we have ever listed – a very rare item as after all these years other examples will have probably become worn out and then been discarded .

We do very occasionally receive similar key pouches for other vehicles.

They are relatively small items measuring  3.25″ ( 83mm) x  2.25″ ( 55mm ) so only suitable for a single key .

This key pouch is in good condition with the leather being well worn in but still relatively stiff and would be original & correct for use with any Series II Land Rover .

It has the Land Rover logo embossed in gold on one side as can be seen in the photos .

The leather pouch has a leather strap running through it – the car key is attached to the split ring on one end of the strap and then protrudes from the pouch and is ready to be inserted into the ignition.

When the key is not being used in the car the leather strap is pulled upwards which retracts the key into the pouch .

The leather strap is then secured to the pouch by a press stud .

The key is now safely inside the pouch – a clever design which prevented car key from wearing holes in the clothing pockets in which it was stored .
