Land Rover – original 1970s Manhattan Windsor keyfob badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob

An original Land Rover keyfob badge which we would think will have been produced in the 1970s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos .

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This keyfob badge was produced by Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham who are sadly no longer in business but made what have become to be recognised as the finest car keyrings ever produced .

They cannot have made many Land Rover badges of this particular design with this ‘ statement ‘ green oval badge because we so rarely see them – what a superb design which really shouts ‘ LAND ROVER ‘ !

Knowing the time scale of Manhattan Windsor’s production we originally thought at first sight that this badge could have dated from the 1980s but it can be seen that it is of quite a primitive design in which case we would think that it is one of Manhattan Windsor’s earliest badges .

The green oval badge is the badge which we all associate with Land Rover and is correct for almost all Series Land Rovers, 90s & 110 and all Defenders together with Discovery, Freelander and early 2000s Range Rover.

This vitreous enamel badge is in very good condition considering that it will have been used at the time in a Land Rover which would still be being used as a predominantly working vehicle rather than as the luxurious vehicles which they have become nowadays.

The badge has just one tiny enamel chip in the green enamel at the left hand side of the badge which can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos .

The badge came to us on a peardrop shaped keyfob in dark tan leather which had seen very much better days – so the decision had to be made to remount the badge onto a new leather keyfob .

This we have done onto a peardrop shaped keyfob in dark tan ‘vintage’ grained leather as can be seen in the photos .

The badge can now be safely used for many years to come back on the road again .
