Original Vintage & Restored Leather Keyrings for Classic Cars & Motorcycles

Land Rover - original late 1960s vitreous enamel badge remounted onto a new genuine tan pigskin leather keyfob

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

The badge mounted onto this pigskin leather keyfob is an original vitreous enamel badge which will have been produced 50 years ago in the late 1960s.

Just this one keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

Very little was produced at the time in the way of badges for keyrings for classic Land Rovers .

Over the last 10 years we have come across just a few of these original gold and black vitreous enamel badges which we have remounted onto new leather keyfobs.

The badges were made by Heath & Machin of Walsall, England.

Heath & Machin produced their own badges ( this is one of them ) for their own keyrings and also mounted badges onto leather keyfobs for other manufacturers – most notably Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham.

Heath & Machin changed hands in the early 1970s and continued making small leather goods up until the 1990s.

This badge is new old stock and in mint condition apart from 3 or 4 tiny dark flecks in the gold enamel which are not unusual for a hand laid enamel badge of this age – they will have been in the enamel since it was fired in the kiln.

We have remounted the badge onto a new leather keyfob in tan pigskin leather .

Pigskin leather was ( and is ! ) a luxurious leather which was occasionally used for keyfobs in the 1960s – usually for prestige cars.

It was always expensive and was prized for it’s appearance and hard wearing durability which was ideal for keyfobs which receive a lot of handling and rough treatment ( ideal for a Land Rover !)

Pigskin leather seems to be a thing of the past and no longer available in the grade needed for making keyfobs – the material which we use was sourced from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for covering hip flasks and making wallets – and keyfobs- quite some time ago.

A superb keyring with a late 1960s period correct vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a period correct keyfob shape which will look the part in any 1960s or 1970s Land Rover .
