Home / Online Shop / Land Rover – original new old stock 1990s? badge by RS of Birmingham remounted onto a new keyfob in black pigskin leather
NOW SOLD – sorry these keyrings have now been sold and can no longer be ordered
Original new old stock Land Rover keyfob badges which we would think will have been made in the 1990s which we have remounted onto new leather keyfobs as can be seen in the photos .
We have just two of these keyrings with this badge mounted onto a keyfob in black pigskin leather to offer – when both have been sold this listing will be cancelled.
Also listed in a separate listing are two keyrings with the badge mounted onto a keyfob in tan pigskin leather unless these have now been sold.
We originally had a few new old stock keyrings with the badges mounted onto the original keyfobs in black leather – these have now all been sold and we are now listing just these 4 badges which came to us loose and not mounted onto keyfobs .
These are now listed mounted onto 2 keyfobs in black pigskin leather ( this listing ) and 2 keyfobs in tan pigskin leather ( the other separate listing )
Original Land Rover keyrings and keyfob badges from the 1990s in good condition are relatively scarce items as they tended to be used in vehicles which themselves received a lot of use and the keyrings & badges were subjected to a lot of wear & tear .
These vitreous enamel badges are in new old stock mint condition – they are good old fashioned ‘no nonsense’ top quality British made vitreous enamel badges which are as British as Roast Beef like the vehicles they were made to be used with .
As is so often the case it is difficult to date these badges accurately as we can find no details of RS of Birmingham whose initials appear on the back of the badges.
We do occasionally see keyfob badges for other makes of vehicle with the initials RS on the reverse of the badges and would think that these badges will date from the 1990s .
The green oval nickel plated badges are in ‘old school’ vitreous enamel ( almost all keyfob badges are now produced in modern resin based enamel and are sadly no longer produced in Britain )
The famous Land Rover green oval badge is date correct for most Land Rover vehicles produced in the 1980s & 1990s – Defender 90/110 also Range Rover , Discovery & Freelander .
We have remounted five of these badges onto new keyfobs in genuine black pigskin leather which is itself vintage material and probably of a similar age to the badges .
Our small stock of pigskin leather came to us a few years ago from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for covering hip flasks and producing wallets & purses.
Pigskin leather was sometimes used for keyfobs in the 1950s & 1960s usually for prestige cars such as Aston Martin & Jaguar .
It has always been a ‘luxurious’ material and prized for it’s appearance and durability which makes it ideal for producing keyrings which do receive a lot of handling .
