Home / Online Shop / Land Rover – original vintage 1970s Manhattan Windsor keyring .
1 in stock
An original Land Rover keyring which we would think will have been produced in the 1970s .
We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
This is the only example of one of these Manhattan Windsor Land Rover keyrings of this design which we have ever listed and this one is in exceptionally good condition and could pass for being new old stock but does have the slightest sign of wear on the surface of the little leather strap securing the badge to the keyfob which suggests that it has been used .
Over the years we have listed maybe 2 or 3 of the badges which appear on these keyrings which will have come to us loose and no longer attached to their original keyfobs .
These have been remounted and listed and sold – the final one available is currently offered for sale here remounted in this Land Rover section unless now sold .
In the 1960s & 1970s Land Rovers were considered to be working vehicles and not many keyrings were produced at the time for them – those few that were produced were mainly produced by Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham in the 1960s and early 1970s and then Manhattan Windsor .
This keyring in this listing was produced by Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham who are sadly no longer in business but made what have become to be recognised as the finest car keyrings ever produced .
They cannot have made many Land Rover badges of this particular design with this ‘ statement ‘ green oval badge because we so rarely see them – what a superb design which really shouts ‘ LAND ROVER ‘ !
Knowing the time scale of Manhattan Windsor’s production we originally thought at first sight that this badge could have dated from the 1980s but it can be seen that it is of an earlier design than the later Land Rover green oval badges in which case we would think that it is one of Manhattan Windsor’s earliest badges .
The translucent emerald green vitreous enamel badge mounted onto this keyring is in mint condition and has a tiny dark shadow at the top of the badge – slight marks like this are common in the enamel on these earlier badges .
This can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos but is not particularly noticeable when viewed at lifesize in the hand.
The badge is mounted onto a keyfob in the trademark full grain genuine black leather which Manhattan Windsor used at the time – gold embossed ‘ TOP GRAIN LEATHER ‘.
The green oval badge is the badge which we all associate with Land Rover and is correct for almost all Series Land Rovers, 90s & 110 and all Defenders together with Discovery, Freelander and early 2000s Range Rover- although the green oval depicted on this badge is of an earlier design more associated with Series Land Rovers .
We would consider this keyring to be original & correct for use with Series IIA & Series III Land Rovers .
Owners of earlier Series I & II Land Rovers could have well bought this keyring to use with their vehicles a few years after the vehicles were built .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
If you are not happy with your purchase for any reason or cancel your order – a full refund will be given.
