Leyland Tiger - original vintage 1980s Manhattan Windsor keyring

An 0riginal Leyland Tiger keyring which will have been produced  in the 1980s .

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

Over the years we have listed & sold possibly 3 or 4 of these Manhattan Windsor Leyland Tiger keyrings .

We very recently sold one in similar condition to this one but in black leather .

Over that period we have also repaired one similar keyring for a retired coach driver and have also remounted a similar badge which is currently listed for sale here in this website shop ( unless now sold )

This keyring was made in the late 1980s by the famous Manhattan Windsor Co. of Birmingham – their details are cast into the back of the badge.

The ‘old school’ vitreous enamel badge on this keyring is very substantial and also very detailed and intricate and is mounted onto a keyfob in genuine dark tan leather .

Whilst the leather keyfob itself has seen very considerable use and is now worn in and polished with use like a comfortable pair of boots ( but still perfectly serviceable ) :-  the enamel badge is completely intact and without an enamel chip – quite remarkable !

This keyring will have travelled the length & breadth of the UK many times over and probably most of Europe as well.

For the badge to have remained in this condition this keyring will have received very careful use and will probably have been kept in the original owner’s pocket in between use.

It was obviously a treasured possession and a badge of honour.

It has now been received by us to be treated simply as merchandise amongst all of our other vintage keyrings- which seems rather sad.

We can only hope that it now passes to a custodian who will appreciate it’s importance and worth.

A keyring in this very carefully used condition is of far greater value than a new old stock keyring which has spent it’s life forgotten at the back of a cupboard drawer rather than out on the open road.
