Lombard RAC Rally - original 1970s/1980s keyring - collector's item

An original Lombard RAC Rally keyring which we would think will have been produced in the late 1970s or 1980s.

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

An original item – and the only example which we have ever seen.

This keyring is in excellent condition – probably new old stock – with a chrome plated badge with vitreous enamel detail mounted onto a black keyfob.

Made by R.E.V. Gomm of Frederick Street, Birmingham – a well respected badgemaker who are still trading today.

Back in the 1970s and 1980s the Lombard RAC Rally stood out above all other sporting events in terms of spectator attendance.

More people watched the rally than attended all football league matches on that weekend put together!

In the early 1970s the Rally had been based in Yorkshire but the organising team wanted to take the base around the UK – so in 1976 hosting of the start and finish went to the City of Bath.

The rally route itself returns to venues used in 1986.
