Lotus – original vintage 1970s keyring with acrylic badge and genuine leather keyfob

An original Lotus keyring which will have been produced in the 1970s .

This keyring is in excellent condition with an acrylic dome badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather .

Keyrings like this one with a badge riveted to the keyfob carried on being produced into the 1990s and even later but with imitation leather keyfobs .

This particular keyring will be one of the very first of this design ever produced – it has a genuine leather keyfob with the British patent no. embossed into the leather beneath the badge .

Additionally the manufacturer has bothered to either use a rivet with a black head or has touched the rivet head in with a black finish on the reverse of the keyfob !

The badge was made by Renamel of London ( it has their distinctive lower case ‘ made in england’ on the reverse of the badge )

Renamel were the first manufacturer to offer keyrings with acrylic dome badges – but the badge has been mounted by another manufacturer at the time who was obviously buying the badges in from Renamel .

These badges were quite a revelation at the time and did not chip when dropped onto a hard surface like the usual vitreous enamel keyfob badges .
