An original Lotus keyring which we would think will have been produced in the late 1970s or 1980s .
We have just this one example to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .
This keyring is in really excellent condition with an acrylic domed badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather .
It could have been produced by Renamel of Kilburn High Road , London although not marked as such – they were the main producer of these acrylic badged keyrings at the time although other manufacturers soon started producing keyrings with acrylic badges as well .
Acrylic badges had a very important advantage over the more traditional vitreous badges – they didn’t crack or break when dropped onto a hard surface .
Keyrings with these badges were produced as ‘budget’ keyrings and were cheaper to buy than their vitreous enamel badged counterparts and many Lotus cars will have been driven with a keyring like this one at the time .
In that case a keyring like this one could in many cases be regarded as a more original keyring to use with a car than a more expensive keyring with a vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a genuine leather keyfob…………….keyrings like this one ‘ did the job’ .
As these keyrings were relatively cheap to buy they were not valued – and were soon discarded when they became worn or when the owner changed from a Lotus to another make of car – so relatively few of these keyrings may have survived .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive
