Matchless - original vintage late 1950s new old stock AE Wassell keyring

NOW SOLD – sorry these keyrings have now been sold and can no longer be ordered but have been left on view as rare examples of original Matchless AE Wassell keyrings .

Original Matchless keyrings which will have been produced  in the late 1950s .

When both keyrings have been sold this listing will be cancelled 

‘Time warp’ is an over-used term – but not in the case of this keyring – and we have 2 to offer.

These are original new old stock Matchless keyrings which are still in their original celluloid packaging with a ‘Real Leather’ sticker !

How do items like this survive almost 60 years of storage and remain in this condition ?

The vitreous enamel badges are as fresh as the day they emerged form the firing kiln and are mounted onto genuine black leather keyfobs.

The badges have ‘AEW’ within a diamond border cast into the back of the badges.

This tells us that they were made by AE Wassell of Birmingham.

Wassells were the main producers of motorcycle keyrings from the mid 1950s into the 1960s.

By the mid 1960s they had disappeared.
