Mercedes Benz golden star – original vintage late 1980s/ 1990s keyring by Manhattan Windsor

An original Mercedes Benz ‘Golden Star’ keyring which we would date as having been produced in the late 1980s or early 1990s 

The keyring is in really excellent condition and can hardly have been used with the gilt badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine full grain black leather gold embossed ‘TOP GRAIN LEATHER’ .

These keyrings were produced over quite a time span and this is probably one of the earlier ones as the golden star is plated in a relatively matte gold finish rather than the bright gold finish which was used at a later stage .

The keyring was produced by Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham – their M over W logo is marked on the reverse of the badge .

Manhattan Windsor were the principal UK manufacturer of automotive keyrings at that time and their quality has never been equalled since .

At that time almost all keyrings & keyfob badges for the world’s cars were made in Birmingham  – it was quite an industry.
