A superb original new old stock Manhattan Windsor Mercedes Benz keyring which we would think will have been produced during the 1980s – at the height of Manhattan Windsor’s production .
We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
This is the only original example of one of these particular Manhattan Windsor Mercedes Benz keyrings which we have ever listed and is in our opinion one of the finest Mercedes Benz keyrings ever produced.
This keyring was produced by Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham who have become recognised as being the premier manufacturer of the finest British automotive keyrings ever produced – sadly they closed their doors some time ago having produced keyrings for over 30 years .
This keyring has never been used and is still mounted onto the original display card within the original cellulose sleeve .
These earlier keyrings were generally issued on a brown display card as this one is ( later display cards were in white card )
The colour of the display card is very similar to modern brown kraft card which is a recycled material – obviously in the 1980s this was not a recycled material .
This lovely new old stock keyring has a gilt plated badge which is enamelled in jewellery quality cobalt blue vitreous enamel and is mounted onto a genuine full grain black leather keyfob which is gold embossed on the reverse :- ‘ TOP GRAIN LEATHER ‘ .
The badge is perforated – with 3 sections milled out of the badge so that the black leather keyfob can be seen through the perforations in the badge .
This was standard practice for Mercedes Benz keyfob badges produced in the 1980s and was carried over by Manhattan Windsor to a lesser degree in the 1990s .
The 1980s Manhattan Windsor gilt plated badges were generally not marked with Manhattan Windsor’s details on the reverse – as is the case with this badge .
This keyring would be the final splendid addition to that perfect car with the relatively high price of the keyring fading into insignificance compared to the value of the vehicle itself or even the price of an average spare part or accessory for that vehicle .
Despite the perforated badge being associated with the 1980s the Mercedes Benz star logo has never changed over the years and there is no reason why this keyring could not be used with an earlier car or indeed a later car .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
