Mercedes Benz – vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a new leather keyfob

A couple of relatively new vitreous enamel Mercedes Benz keyfob badges which will have been produced in Birmingham within the last few years which we have mounted onto new leather keyfobs in full grain black leather  .

These are NOT original vintage badges – they will have been produced just a few years ago and are not to be confused with original vintage badges from the 1970s – these badges were made later.

We are currently offering just these two keyrings with these badges  – when both keyrings have been sold this listing will be cancelled.

The badges are virtually identical to vitreous enamel badges which were produced by Caxton of Kew many years ago and issued on Mercedes Benz dealership keyrings .

An example of one of the original Caxton dealership keyrings with this badge is shown in the final listing photo .

The superb quality ‘old school’ vitreous enamel badges mounted onto the keyrings in this listing were available up until quite recently .

They have translucent blue enamel over a granulated ground producing an almost glittering effect .

We have remounted both badges onto new leather keyfobs in full grain black leather  .

Sadly vitreous enamel badges like these are apparently no longer produced in England .

New reproduction badges will now usually be produced in modern resin based enamel – not vitreous enamel like these – and are most unlikely to have been produced in England .

Maybe one day in the future beautiful quality vitreous enamel badges like these will once again be made in England ……………………..but the areas where the workshops once stood have now generally been built over with housing estates and the craftsmen with their knowledge and skills have gone .
