Mercury Comet - original 1960s gilt badge remounted onto new leather keyfob

An original Mercury Comet keyfob badge which will have been produced in the 1960s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

An original Mercury Comet keyfob badge which will date from the 1960s.

The vitreous enamel on gilt badge is in good condition but does look it’s age as can be seen in the photos.

The faces of these gilt badges were originally treated with lacquer to prevent tarnishing and we have given the badge an additional coat of lacquer before remounting it onto one of our classic keyrings in full grain black leather as can be seen in the photos.

The back of the badge remains untreated and is marked ‘MP’ with the crown symbol. This stood for ‘Manhattan Products’ of Birmingham.

In the 1960s almost all keyrings for the world’s cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.

This badge is original and correct for use with 1962 – 1969 Mercury Comet.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
